Wendy Lovell’s visit to our fair town on Tuesday (Sunraysia Daily, July 23), speaks of the previous two-year waiting list for early intervention services.
One would hope the minister is not taking credit for reducing that waiting list but rather giving credit to the federally funded Medicare Local as being responsible.
Our federal member’s comments that there would be no detrimental impact to our community with the demise of Medicare Local under his government’s budget are ill-informed and misguided.
We will have our families quickly return to the unsatisfactory waiting list situation whilst the state-funded organisations channel funding into their empires of lovely buildings devoid of actual on-the-ground services.
It is time for the state representatives to come clean about what is actually being achieved besides lovely new buildings and cease their insistent credit-taking for gains that clearly are not theirs to take.
