Drawing to come to life?

LIFE DRAWING: Whyalla Art Group tutor Yvonne Dorward is calling for members of the Whyalla art community to register their interest in a Life Drawing workshop. The Whyalla Art Group is calling for members of the art community to register their interest in a potential Life Drawing workshop.

Whyalla Art Group secretary Eileen Jones said the group was currently gauging interest to asses the viability of holding the workshop.

“We are fortunate to have the offer of a professional life model willing to sit, this gives artists the opportunity to draw from life,” she said.

“At the present time we are compiling a list of artists who are interested in attending.

“To make this viable 10 artists are needed to attend.”

Mrs Jones said well-known, professional artist Yvonne Dorward would be on hand to offer tutoring to participants.

Mrs Dorward said drawing a live model could be confronting for people.

“Sometimes people get a bit overwhelmed the first time they draw a live model,” she said.

Mrs Dorward said everyone would be welcome to come try their hand at drawing and encouraged people of all levels of drawing experience to attend.

Life Drawing will be held at Darling Terrace Gallery outside of regular trading hours, running from 10am until 1pm on either a Saturday or Sunday in late August.

Mrs Jones said a date for Life Drawing would be finalised if enough interest was shown.

The session will be held at a cost of $15 with artists required to supply their own drawing materials.
