The Magpies are coming off the back of a win against Mudgee and now have the Orange Hawks on their radar.
“The boys were really happy in the sheds after last weekends game,” coach Steve Sutton said.
“Confidence is high, I think they are just starting to realise that if they get serious they could really challenge this year.”
The Maggies are now five wins from six games and only two points off the competition leaders in equal second, third on point differential.
“We’ve been playing controlled football.”
“When we’re completing our sets we’re at our best,” Sutton said.
“During the last weekend’s second half we started playing as individual’s. Hawk’s have some big boppa’s up front and quick guys out wide, but if we keep working as a unit, we will compete well into the game,” he said.

With the table becoming incredibly close over the last few weeks Cowra are now chasing a top two finish.
“It [a win this weekend] would give us a three point buffer on Hawks and the worst we would be looking at [on the ladder] is probably fourth. But in saying that we could go very close to finishing second,” Sutton said.
“We could then potentially get two home semi finals and press our claim to host the final at Sid Kallis Oval, which would be huge.”
The Magpies will have to be wary of an in form Hawks outfit though as they will have their eye on leap frogging Cowra.
Cowra will head to Orange fairly unscathed from last weekend. K.J Wood is recovering from a cork but should be fine while Toby Nobes is expected to return through reserve grade.
“Touch wood we get no injuries this week.”
“Then we can go into Cyms next weekend full strength for the first time this season,”
The Magpies will tackle Hawks at Wade Park on Sunday.
